Face it, loser: SHE'S GONE. She abandoned this blog. She probably made some kind of sexual advance on McCord & he turned her down, so now she HATES Adam-12. It's time for you to get a life.the great gavonnehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15602672766852953745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-27082616356445444942020-07-09T04:30:31.163-04:002020-07-09T04:30:31.163-04:00Another real strong episode, written by Cannell; i...Another real strong episode, written by Cannell; it shows how critical the procedures police work under and utilize, when things are right, can feel like a tonne of weight when things go sour. Also, as they spend a good deal of their working day trailing or around 'bad people', honest cops are the underdog. Public perception and recent events create a massive cloud over everything in our world today, but the challenges for law enforcement remain grounded in the same place. Very solid acting from Milner and Boyett. As to the earlier question about Walter Burke, aka Billy 'Fuller' in this episode, he was a regular on TV during the 50s, 60s and 70s and often was asked to play the whimsical Irishman or the clever crook. IMDB.com lists him at 5'8" tall, but they've got to be wrong by 4-5 inches. I went to IMDB for details. But, as part of my search this blog came up. I wish I had found it earlier. It looks very interesting.
I was in junior high when "Adam 12" was in its original run.
I almost became a Los Angeles police officer because of "Adam 12," "Dragnet" and "Columbo." I even took some law enforcement classes in high school. I won't go into detail as to why I didn't become a cop. Let's just say things change.

The point is that "ADAM 12" had a huge impact on me growing up. And I still watch the show when I can find it. (As of this writing it's on COZY-TV, over-the-air 4.2 in L.A.)

Now that I know that this blog exists I'll check out some of the archived material.
Too bad there aren't any current blogs. I'll join the chorus of those who hope you'll start writing NEW blogs again.
M.B. (The big difference being in the Dragnet version, the viewer saw exactly what happened - and sweated it out with Joe Friday when the evidence didn't back it up until the end.). Webb and Cinader gave the speech to someone else for once - Art Balinger as Friday's boss, Captain Brown:

"Let me have your badge a minute, Friday. Take a good look at it: $20 worth of brass and pot-metal in a $2 leather case.

"It's easy to keep the metal bright and clean - but what about the man who carries it?...

" I know what you're going through, Joe. Board rules against you, it could mean disciplinary action, even a murder charge.

"But you're first going to be judged by other policemen. Men who aren't out to bury you...and men who aren't out to whitewash you, either.

"And I know you wouldn't want it any other way. And neither do I...because the alternative sickens me.

" None of us EVER want to see this badge turned into a hunting license."Don Hilliardnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-44776164746141593892017-01-15T23:06:36.201-05:002017-01-15T23:06:36.201-05:00I agree about the inspirational adherence of Reed,...I agree about the inspirational adherence of Reed, Malloy, and Mac to the truth. I would never expect anything less of them. I also love and expect their affection and loyalty to one another. I like to think that this is true in real life. I know there are good guys and bad guys in all human situations, but LEOs and first responders always seem like heroes to me. Of course, I come from the viewpoint of "White privilege" with no negative interactions with law enforcement, but they are heroes to me. That's how I grew up, and that hasn't changed. I love this series and these characters like they were my personal protectors! On a lesser note, who is the actor who played Billy Porter? I could look it up via DVD, but that would take too long. I've always thought he looked familiar, and his face and physical stature make me think he might've been a jockey in real life. Thanks as usual, Keely. Great job! Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
