One issue storylines on A-12 aren't always bad, but when they succeed it's because the chemistry (and bro-mance) between our partners in crime-busting drive the bus. Here we rely upon one loopy lady and a thin-bare drama with more holes than Albert Hall. Certainly Cannell did this better on the Rockford Files, as it definitely was too much to chew for a 1/2 hour show where no one, i repeat no one, would mistake Jim Reed as some scummy drug smuggling AWOL soldier. Oh and I love the part where Malloy tries to throw a wrench in the Narco plan: 'Maybe the manager will remember Reed from our appearance earlier...' (i'm paraphrasing here folks) 'Oh I doubt that,' remarks the head of the Narc operation, 'you guys have seen me running a gym and you let me come in and pretend I'm a cop now, see?'... Just thank goodness Mark VII didn't try to come up with a version of 'The Princess of the Mind' to really kill this episode.dandy danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18063678192378244547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-64514035805912530122016-12-14T06:25:26.174-05:002016-12-14T06:25:26.174-05:00Thanks Keely! I wanted to wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving in your new home AND what I really wish in a perfect world would be to find and surprise you with "that SQUIRREL STATUE" that you want and like so much! I guess that is what I am walking away with after reading your wonderful blog this week....again very well written (as always) and thank you for your effort and taking the time on this excellent venture. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE hearing about your so fortunate chance(s) of a lifetime in meeting Mr. Kent McCord and 3 times now! I am still in total awe at the opportunity of that in life! I thank you for sharing with us, I am thrilled for you as a reward for your "effort" in this blog in keeping Adam-12 so appreciated, as the totally greatest show there ever was (in my opinion). BUT.....days later and I just wish....and keep hearing your statement about that "SQUIRREL STATUE" I so wish this holiday season, that it would surface somewhere and end up with you! Hey listen....not so unimaginable, really....I know someone that has met Mr. Kent McCord....for 3 treasured times now! lol
Take care my friend and the best to you and your family,
Terry DempseyTerry Dempseynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-39077733787397597912016-11-22T10:27:03.711-05:002016-11-22T10:27:03.711-05:00Sorry I deleted my post above - I found a typo, de...Sorry I deleted my post above - I found a typo, deleted it, and then realized I hadn't copied it into memory properly, so it was lost (feel free to delete it).

Keely, there's also this - you all please feel free to give Keely the publicity she deserves by retweeting the tweet (and also click on my name to find our blog, which links to Keely's blog for every single episode - Keely's blog is *the* definitive Adam-12 blog, and I want her to get all the credit she deserves for writing it.

https://twitter.com/DCDining/status/801083704877555712Don Rockwellhttp://www.donrockwell.com/index.php?/topic/48754-adam-12-1968-1975-police-drama-following-two-officers-on-duty-in-los-angeles/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-80304834712534167052016-11-21T10:00:05.097-05:002016-11-21T10:00:05.097-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Don Rockwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16537712909597687289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-58866837329217431282016-11-21T08:17:52.883-05:002016-11-21T08:17:52.883-05:00Malloy to the Rookie: "Do you know what this ...Malloy to the Rookie: "Do you know what this is?" God you are funny, Keely!

Except for Reed looking great and the chest hair, I agree, one of the worst.
So many annoying things happened. using Reed, losing Reed, the amount of make-up on that woman, the fact that, even being good at being tough, nothing about Reed says ex, burned out nam, awol, guy, the fact the gov't shoes and cop shoes are probably the same, or look the same, even if the cop one's are sometimes squeaky, her stupid dog story...

When he took her by the shoulders and looked at her squarely and says comforting stuff, she just whines about his being wrong, she whines a lot, but if you cannot except that reassurance, just the way he gave it, you need a better writer. And OMG, who would not have changed that name even if they were not in show business and everyone else does, That was just so stupid.

I don't know if I loved, or hated, "Ding a Ling," but it was ridiculous as hell. McCord did a great job with some very bad writing, she didn't and Milner, did not have to because his lines were good. lol One thing I liked, even though done badly was when they are both shot at the end, Royal makes an effort to get back to Reed, when he is knocked down by a bullet.

I am sorry to be so negative, i have been especially crabby for a couple of weeks, for some reason. B)

The Reed Malloy interactions are always the best parts of any episode. Malloy would not have told Reed a long dumb, sappy, pointless, dog story. lol

Everything with Malloy was great, te interactions with Reed and with his temp partner and that he is so worried and is keeping tabs on his young partner. addiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16020113924384328124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-2564711890765045982016-11-20T21:55:19.322-05:002016-11-20T21:55:19.322-05:00Hey, loved the comment about the chest and the car...Hey, loved the comment about the chest and the car hood. Some of my favorites fit that mold, others do not. Just for the record, my favorites include "Vice Versa" (a 'basic' ep), "It All Happened So Fast" (not so 'basic' and also Kent's favorite), "I Feel Like a Fool Malloy" ('basic'), and "The Killing Ground" (definitely not 'basic').

Anyway, glad somebody agrees with me on this one.Keely Schultzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05811146192656170372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-83793455204238445222016-11-20T20:11:06.999-05:002016-11-20T20:11:06.999-05:00I knew Keely would hate this because she likes &qu...I knew Keely would hate this because she likes "basic" Adam-12 - the episodes where they're driving around, responding to several calls.

In general, I do too; however, my two favorite episodes are "Elegy for a Pig" and "The Search," both of which had Reed and Malloy split up. If I had to pick a third favorite, boy, that would be tough ... Reed's first shooting, The Ferret, the rich girl who wouldn't leave Malloy alone (the ending of that was maybe my single-favorite Adam-12 moment), the one with the abandoned children (heart-wrenching), and a few others all rank as just fantastic with me.
Don Rockwellhttp://donrockwell.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-34506499728618478532016-11-20T20:01:50.485-05:002016-11-20T20:01:50.485-05:00I'll comment more later, but unfortunately, it...I'll comment more later, but unfortunately, it looks like *I* am the one who made a blooper - I listened to this again about five times with really good speakers, and I think I was mistaken.

In the final ambulance scene, the first words out of her mouth - I thought - were "Oh Tim, I'm sorry." I played it over, and over, and over again, and each time, she said "Tim."

But tonight, as luck would have it, my laptop died, and I listened to it on my desktop with much better speakers, and I think she's saying "Jim." I'm not sure, but how could that possibly get past the editors?

Anyway, I've watched every episode from Season 1 Episode 1 until now, and this is - by far - my least favorite. In fact, I think this episode is so bad that, if it was the first time I ever saw the show, I'd never watch it again.

That said, I'm a straight male, and even I can see the appeal in Kent McCord, so I completely understand how someone with a crush on him could melt when they watch this.

But! It is completely out of his character to be borderline unfaithful to his wife, and there is an underlying sexual tension between Kathy and Reed that has no business being here. It lessens his character in my eyes, to the point where I'm closing my eyes and pretending I never saw this episode.
Don Rockwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16537712909597687289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3432892204045467262.post-22780120772283034442016-11-20T19:09:57.600-05:002016-11-20T19:09:57.600-05:00Well, Keely, like Don (can't remember his last...Well, Keely, like Don (can't remember his last name) said, he knew you'd either hate or love this episode. My reaction to it is the exact opposite of yours. I LOVE seeing Kent McCord doing tenderness and gentleness! I found him and the girl to be equally believable, and I think the weakness in her character could've been partially expressed by her vulnerability to and addiction to drugs. I found Jim's empathy for her to be a further expression of his generally non-judgmental attitude, which I love about his character. BTW, I had a thought about the blooper Don mentioned, and I mentioned it in a comment at the end of your blog about the previous episode. I won't bother to check out my hunch until Don reveals his finding. Interesting that we have totally opposite reactions to this ep. It'll be more interesting to see other comments.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
